The Peace-Maker

Finally, You Can Have Faith in God

by Pastor John Hamel

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: …And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  … suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.’” (Luke 2:8-14)

On the evening of Jesus’ birth, God’s Messenger Angel appeared to these shepherds and told them, in essence, “Guess what?  You don’t have to be afraid anymore.  A Peace Maker Savior is born and He’s going to fix the problem between fallen humanity and Holy God.  Go down into Bethlehem and check it out.  Ask around for the young girl who gave birth in the stable tonight.  You’ll see it’s true.  There’ll be a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes with her.  He doesn’t look too powerful now, but He’s the Savior of the world.”

Suddenly, at those words, too many Angels to count burst into praise, exclaiming, “Glory to God and to God alone.  Only He could pull this off.  Finally, there’ll be Peace again between God and man.  Finally, good will shall prevail again.”

The shepherds headed into town looking for confirmation that the vision they had seen was the “real McCoy.”  Sure enough, there they were in the stable, the little girl and the baby boy.

I’m sure they were “blown away”, as they stood watching her kissing the face of the newborn Peace Maker.  I’m sure their hearts pounded and tears welled up as they watched this young mother kissing “God’s” little fingers! (John 1:14)

This little Peace Maker grew into the Man Who ultimately bore the sins of the world on Calvary’s Cross.  All who accept the Peace Maker’s sacrifice on their behalf are now entitled to experience Peace with God. (2Corinthians 5:21

What exactly is “Peace with God”?

It’s knowing that your sins have been forgiven and you can face Him without fear.  People are only afraid to die when they know they aren’t ready to face God.

Only Jesus can prepare you to face God.  Only Jesus can give “Peace with God.”  “Therefore being justified by faith, we have PEACE WITH GOD through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

By saying, “Jesus, I choose You as my Peace Maker” you become a child of God. (Romans 10:13; John 1:12)

As soon as you do this, a supernatural knowing will come into your heart that finally the problem between sinful you and Holy God has been resolved because of Jesus. (1John 5:13

Finally, you can have faith in God. It’s not possible to have faith in someone you fear.

Some false religions say, “It’s impossible to have Peace with God.”  Others teach, “It is possible to have Peace with God but only by joining our Denomination.”

They are both wrong.

Peace with God is possible but only by belonging to His Family through Jesus Christ!

Jesus knows that you’re ashamed of all the things you’ve done wrong.  Still He says, “All who come to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)

Jesus really is THE PEACE MAKER!
