The Ultimate Christ

Messiah & Soon Coming King

by Pastor John Hamel

“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?  And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 16:13-17)

Jesus called His Disciples off to the side one day wanting to know what the “buzz” was concerning Him.  He received a few answers.  Some thought He was John the Baptist, raised from the dead.  Others figured He was Elijah or maybe Jeremiah or one of the many other Old Testament Prophets.

When Jesus asked the whole group whom they thought He was, Peter, as usual, piped right up.  “Why, You are the Christ, of course!  The Son of the Living God.”  (Matthew 16:16)  Jesus responded by telling Peter that what he knew didn’t come out of his “head.”  Rather, Jesus said, it came out of his “spirit” as a direct “revelation” from God Himself.

You, too, can have a direct revelation of Who Jesus is.  It’s in God’s Book - the Holy Bible.

Let’s look at what the Bible says about Who Jesus is, why He came to planet Earth and that He will soon return.

Jesus is the “Creator Christ.”  All that exists on Earth or in Heaven, all things visible and invisible “…were created for Him and by Him.”  No exceptions! (Colossians 1:16)

Jesus is the “Compassionate Christ.”  Multitudes followed Him everywhere and He …was moved with compassion towards them and He healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14)  He still heals sick bodies today because He promised He would never change. (Hebrews 13:8)

Jesus is the “Crucified Christ.”  He didn’t come to Earth because He was in trouble but because we were in trouble.  All the sin credited to our account He took upon Himself at Calvary.  The Bible declares that He “…took it out of the way, nailing it to His Cross.” (Colossians 2:13)

Every sin ever committed by anyone, anywhere, anytime collided with Him on the Cross that day.  When He shouted, “It is finished” that was God-talk for “You all are forgiven!” (John 19:30)

Jesus is the “Resurrected Christ.”  Once He went down into the bowels of Hell to pay for our sins, He “…was raised again for our justification.” (Romans 4:25)  Satan thought He was down for the count.  Not so!

He’s Risen and we’ve been “justified”!  I like to say, “It’s JUST-IF-I’D never sinned!”

Jesus is the “Modern Day Christ.”  “…He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him.” (Hebrews 7:25)  I say, “From the guttermost to the uttermost, from the doghouse to the Penthouse, from the outhouse to the White House, He’s our Modern Day Forgiver.”

Jesus is the “Soon, oh so soon, Coming Christ”! The Bible teaches that just prior to the coming seven year period of tribulation, Jesus will be coming to catch away His Saints, sparing them from the great Tribulation. This event is commonly referred to as "The Rapture."

Although the word "rapture" is not used in the Bible, the event is certainly referred to repeatedly.

He "...shall descend from heaven with a shout ...the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive ...shall be caught up together with them in the clouds …so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1Thessalonians 4:16,17)

This is not "The Second Coming" of Christ.  The Second Coming of Christ will occur at the end of the seven year great Tribulation.  The "Rapture" and the "Second Coming" are two uniquely different events that occur seven years apart.

At the time of the "Rapture" we see we shall be caught up together with Christ and His accompanying Saints in the clouds.  At that time Jesus' feet do not touch upon the Earth.

However, seven years later at the time of the actual Second Coming, Jesus' feet will touch the Earth on the Mount of Olives, splitting the mountain in two.  At that time the Battle of Armageddon will begin.

"Then shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations as when He fought in the day of battle. And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof towards the east and towards the west..." (Zechariah 14:3-4)

So it is clear.  At the time of the Rapture the living Saints will be "caught up in the clouds" to be with the Lord forever.  This occurs at the beginning of the Tribulation period.

At the time of the Second Coming, Christ will come and actually place His feet upon the Earth.  This occurs at the end of the seven year period of Tribulation.

After His Second Coming, Christ will separate His sheep from Satan’s goats.  His Sheep will go to His Judgment of Reward.  Satan’s goats will go to their Judgment of Punishment.

However, we trust that at the time of the Rapture you will find yourself looking down from the clouds, experiencing it - not looking up from the Earth and regretting it.

It’s time to wake up if you’ve been sleeping spiritually.

Jesus is the Ultimate Christ, the Messiah and Soon Coming King!

Will you be ready to meet Him in the clouds?

Who do you say He is - the Christ, the Son of the Living God?

If so, say, “Jesus, You’re my choice” (Romans 10:13) and then we will see you here, there or in the air!

Be Blessed ...  John and Barbara Hamel
